“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I’ve commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28: 19-20 ESV).
When Jesus gave his disciples the Great Commission, He was giving them a command. He didn’t say “Don’t feel pressured or anything, but if you feel like it, go and make disciples.” He looked them dead in the eye and said, “Go”.
This command still holds true for us today. We are still called to “Go”. Granted, not everyone is called to go overseas, or to another place, but everybody is called to missions. Everybody has a mission field. Your mission field could be your workplace, your school, your local coffee shop, your favorite fast food joint, it could be anywhere. There are many times where we feel unqualified, or that someone else could do it better than us, so we just wait around for somebody else to reach out to people in those places. That’s not how this works. You were placed in that position for a reason. That’s your field.
What if everybody had that same attitude? “I’ll just wait for someone else to do it.” Nothing would ever get done! Jesus wants us to do something with our faith. He wants us to Go. So what are you waiting for? An invitation? Jesus did more than that. Jesus didn’t invite us to go, He commanded that we go.
