Living in the Last Days

“But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unlkoving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; from such people turn away” (2 Timothy 3:l -5).

This reference by Paul to the last days is certainly a sad commentary. We are living in the last days and will be until Jesus comes back to take us home. Paul is describing our society today. Unfortunately, there are Christians who are part of his description as well.

Today there are 50 million people dependent on mind-altering meds and another 25 million taking drugs illegally, suicide is at a 30-year high, and addiction to alcohol, drugs, food, gambling and porn is now a full-blown national health crisis (David Kupelian — WND). These statistics are appalling! With this type of activity it’s no wonder we fall into the list that Paul describes of the last days.

So, what should be our concerns today? We must be sure we are not drawn into self-centeredness and other forms of sin described in Paul’s list. Many today will (so to speak) act as Christians, but not live as Christ has taught us to live. If we are not spending time reading fig God’s word and spending time praying on a daily basis, the enemy has a better chance of pulling us into his grip. Ephesians 5:l5-I6 says, “See then that you wall: circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

As we get closer to the time of Jesus’ return, the enemy will do everything he possibly can to destroy us as he knows his time is short. Remember this, Jesus is coming to present His bride, the church to Himself not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. Can we say we are ready for that?
