Out Of Bondage Into Abundance

“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to proclaim good news to the poor, He has sent Me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” (Luke 4:18-19).

We serve an awesome Savoir. Slavery was a major thing during biblical times and slaves were typically mistreated and oppressed, Slaves were considered less than people. I feel that in this verse, Jesus is also talking about slavery and bondage to sin. Jesus wants to bring freedom to our lives because that is what He was sent to this earth to do. Sometimes we allow the shame sin to stand in the way of the freedom that jesus wants to bring. Shame tries to keep us down, to make us feel like we are less than, but that doesn’t have to be the case.

Is there something in your life that you are being shamed for, or enslaved by? You don’t have to continue to live in the shame and bondage; all you have to do is ask! Jesus came to give life and give it more abundantly, and a life of bondage and shame isn’t an abundant life.
