Give Thanks Because of God’s Love!

“Oh give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!” (Psalm 107:1).

As we head into the Thanksgiving season, I’m reminded of all the things I am thankful for: Family, friends, food, and so much more. Above all of these, though, I am thankful for the love of God. Without His love, all of the other things for which I’m thankful I probably would not even have!

“Give thanks to the Lord, for His love endures forever,” is an expression which appears many times throughout the Bible. I feel this places special significance on how important it is that we show thanks for the love of God. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the sales that come the day after Thanksgiving (or even the day of, depending on where you like to do your shopping), but I challenge you: before you get wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays, sit back, reflect, and give thanks to God for all He has given you because of His love.

Forever Grateful

If today all I had was what I gave thanks for yesterday, how much would that be? I heard this question at the Wednesday Lenten Service. Wow! I started to ponder that question. What did I give thanks for the day before? the results were startling! I thanked God for a few things in the morning, but then it stopped. What happened? Life happened! Busyness!

I wouldn’t have had much that I gave thanks for the day before. I was saddened. This question was an eye opener. From this day forward, I’m going to try to be thankful throughout the entire day. God deserves my thanks and praise. His Name to be glorified! After all, God gave His precious Son to me. He came to earth to be crucified on the cross for my iniquities. I must always give praise and thanksgiving.

The Community Lenten Service filled my heart with song. Have you ever listened to the words in the song “I’m Forever Grateful”? This song deeply touched my heart and soul. Here are some of those words:

I’m forever grateful to You –
I’m forever grateful for the Cross,
I’m forever grateful to You –
that You came to seek and save the lost.
You did not wait for me to draw near to You,
– but you clothed Yourself with frail humanity.
You did not wait for me to cry out to You
but You let me hear Your voice calling me.
I’m Forever Grateful!

I’m so looking forward to the next Lenten Service. What word will God have for me? I encourage you to attend the services. You will be touched in a special way as we prepare for that Glorious Day when Christ arises!

Forever Grateful!
